Horton Technique B.DM.1.1: Use whole body movements, strength, flexibility and proper alignment to develop dance technique
Essential Question - How is the Horton Technique Designed to fully engage the body and properly train dancers for performance?
Learning Target - Students will learn the "Warm-Up" from Horton technique - Roll Downs, Flat Backs, Primitive Squats, Lateral Stretching, and Lunges.
Explore/Demonstrate - Students will watch Horton technique videos and practice Pilates breathing while reviewing and performing Horton technique. Students will identify where the technique is expressed in the repertory and why.
Guided Practice - Students will have guides/tutorials to ensure that they are dancing safely and correctly. Modifications will be provided for students in order to scaffold the technique from Beginner to Intermediate.
Assessment - Students will be formatively assessed through daily class participation.
